Memorial bike ride to be held

MEMORIAL RIDE TO BE HELD: The fifth annual Larry Furniss Memorial Bike Ride will be held 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Western Reserve Greenway at the Sunside Trailhead, Route 305, Champion. The memorial ride is to raise awareness for bike safety.

In July 2010, Furniss was traveling on the Greenway Bike Path and was struck by a car while crossing Housel Craft Road. He died in August 2010.

A bike donated by Thumm’s Bike Shop will be raffled off at the end of the day. All proceeds will be donated to the Western Reserve Bike Path. For tickets in advance or information, call 330-240-3728.

PUPPET SHOW AT LIBRARY: The Lordstown Library Branch, 1471 Salt Springs Road, will hold a puppet shoe for children 1 p.m. Monday. The event is free, with no registration required.

CAR AND BIKE SHOW SET: The second annual Car and Bike Show will be held 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at Packard Park. The show will include a cookout, local performances starting at 2 p.m., a family kickball game, celebrity dunk tank, and cars and bikes, with judging at 4:30 p.m. Free food will be served to children younger than 18.

CHURCH HOSTS EVENT: New Jerusalem Fellowship in Warren will hold rummage sale 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 11 at Renaissance Place, 1948 Palmyra Road, Warren.

INTERACTIVE WETLAND PROGRAM: The president of the Ohio Wetlands Foundation Vincent Messerly will discuss current issues on the water sheds in Mahoning Valley and what is being done to take care of them 7 p.m. July 15 at the Mahoning County Extension office.

The free program, “Wetlands of the Valley,” is the third in a series of bi-monthly programs put on by the Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalists, who are partnered with OSU Extension in Mahoning County.
