Carol S. Griffiths 1939-2025

HOWLAND — Carol S. Griffiths passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side, Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, at the age of 86.

Born in Youngstown on April 9, 1939, Carol lived a life marked by love, grace and devotion to family. Carol was a graduate of Youngstown South High School, where she formed many lifelong bonds with her classmates. Soon after marrying her high school sweetheart, John Guffey, Carol became a mother to two beautiful children, Terri and Mark. After many years working for Cold Metal products, Carol retired to enjoy the good life, spending much of her time having lunch with lifelong friends, caring for animals in need and being a strong advocate for the Republican Women’s Club.

Known affectionately as “Nama,” she embodied kindness, selflessness and strength. Barely reaching 5 feet tall on a good day, Nama’s small frame came with a big personality. She was always there for the good time and the bloody marys. Her laughter and smile were infectious. Her warmth touched everyone fortunate enough to know her and her heart always found room for one more.

Nama was everyone’s biggest fan — when she couldn’t be there physically to support you, she was just one phone call away. No matter the news, good or bad, Nama was there to listen, support and let you know you are and will always be loved.

To be known as a grandparent is remarkable, but to be known as a great-grandmother four times over is the highest honor. It was a title Carol, our beloved Nama, wore with endless pride and joy.

The most precious moments of her life were those spent surrounded by family and friends, sharing laughter, stories and simple joys that became treasured memories.

Her legacy lives on in the laughter of her great-grandchildren, Colton Wiete, Barrett Potter, Blayke Potter and Juniper Guffey. Her love lives on in the hearts of her grandchildren, Ryan (Eileen) Potter, Danielle Potter, John (Amber) Guffey, Deanne (John) Lione and Addie Thomas. Her memories live on in the souls of her children, Terri (John Hudak) Potter, Mark Guffey and Ronald Wick.

Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Martha B. Wick, and her brothers, Dale and Don Wick.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

To honor Carol’s incredible life, do a good deed for someone, and remember Carol and her loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

Arrangements are entrusted to Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road NE, Warren, Ohio 44483, 330-394-6200. Dedicated to serving your loved ones. This obituary may be viewed and condolences sent to www.statonborowskifuneralhome.com.
