Doris A. McCollough 1953-2025

Doris A. McCollough

WARREN — Doris Ann McCollough was called home by God on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born July 3, 1953, Doris was the beloved daughter of Benny Lee and Anna Mae Kirksey. Doris proudly graduated from Alliance High School, Class of 1971.

In 1972, she married the love of her life, Thad McCollough. Together, they were blessed with four daughters, Angela, Cynthia and Lacresha McCollough, and Lauren (Maurice) Taylor — all of whom will forever treasure her memory.

With a heart for caring and serving others, she dedicated her life to helping those in need. She worked faithfully as a caregiver at Albert Nursing Home, Hillside Hospital, Community Skilled Health Care Center and through many private-care cases, touching countless lives along the way. In 1995, she furthered her nursing by graduating with the very first adult nursing class at TCTC. She continued to bless others through her caregiving work and eventually retired from The Enrichment Center Inc. in 2015.

Doris was known for her loving and giving heart. She was a devoted member of New Jerusalem Fellowship since 1980, where she faithfully served in many roles — teaching Sunday School, visiting and praying for the sick and shut-in, and serving in hospitality. In 2023, she was honored by New Jerusalem Fellowship at the Praying Women’s Luncheon for her unwavering dedication and the love she poured into the ministry throughout the years.

In 2015, Doris was diagnosed with idiopathic interstitial lung disease and was given a life expectancy of five years. However, covered by God’s grace, she was able to continue serving in ministry, traveling and enjoying her family for an additional five years.

Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her loving husband and daughters, as well as in her 14 grandchildren — Romando (Melina) McCollough of Phoenix, Arizona, Tyeisha (Steven) Wilson, Thaddeus (Chyna) McCollough, Dorian and Nicolas McCollough, Terrance, Trenton and TaLeah Clay, Maurice Jr. and Aundrea Taylor, Justice McCollough Jones, Javon and Jaidyn Provitt, and Jazariyah Rogers; as well as four great-grandchildren, Fernando, Mason, Gabriel and Maverick; and her loving goddaughters, Ashley Merrell, Nellie Clay and Coretta Brown. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her brother, David Kirksey, and her special nephew, Anthony Kirksey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benny Lee and Anna Mae Kirksey; two brothers, Johnny and Benny Jr.; her sister, Mary Kirksey; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at New Jerusalem Fellowship, followed by cremation. Her earthly remains

will rejoin her family and her spiritual body will rejoice with the Lord — fully healed.

Family and friends may pay tribute to Mrs. McCollough 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at New Jerusalem Fellowship Church, 2555 Palmyra Road SW, Warren, OH 44481, with services at noon.

The family extends special thanks to her doctors and the Cleveland Clinic, Hospice of the Valley and her nurse, Olivia.
