Linda S. Harper 1960-2025

JENKS, Okla. — Linda Sue Hanshaw Harper, 65, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and loved ones, Sunday, June 22, 2025, following a brief illness.

Linda was born March 6, 1960, in Warren, to Coy and Juanita Hanshaw.

Linda lived to play with her nieces, nephews, grand-nephews, stepchildren, stepnephews and granddaughter. Linda was a big kid around the kids, and they loved to play and spend time together. She could make up silly games to play at the drop of a hat, and the kids loved them. As the kids grew up, she enjoyed attending their birthday parties, school events, holidays and other milestones. Linda was usually the person with a camera, always taking pictures of the many family events.

Family was the most important thing to Linda, and she made many trips to and from Oklahoma, Ohio, Virginia and Kentucky to visit family and friends.

Linda and her husband, Tim, shared their dream home in Jenks, where she loved remodeling their house and working in the yard. One of Linda’s favorite activities was gardening, where she could often be found expanding flower beds and planting new flowers. Her two favorites were irises and lilies. Linda also loved Christmas and usually began decorating before Thanksgiving. Her home always looked like a Christmas wonderland.

Linda was a lifelong rabid Cleveland sports fan. She attended many Browns, Indians and Cavaliers games with her family and loved her “sports room” dedicated to her teams’ memorabilia. She liked to watch Browns football every fall from her dad’s recliner.

Linda was a travel buff and was always looking to plan her next adventure. Her travel list included many international trips to Greece, Italy, China, Mexico and Canada, as well as extensive trips across the country. One of her favorite trips was a visit to Alaska with Tim to see the Northern Lights and wildlife, as well as any vacation that included her family.

Linda was a person of faith and relied on God to give her strength in life. While she lived in Ohio, she attended and was active at the Evening Light Apostolic Church. Through Linda’s faith, we know she is at home with the Lord.

Linda was also a very proud American, a student of history and enjoyed reading about the birth of America while visiting museums and historic places. She was especially fond of George Washington or any of the other Founding Fathers.

Linda graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice. She was a dedicated and hardworking public servant in her 30-plus years of federal service, spending time at several different agencies before retiring in 2016.

Linda’s positive energy and optimistic outlook on life impacted the lives of everyone she encountered. She was a selfless and caring person who always put the needs of others before her own.

The past year had been a struggle health-wise for her, but she always maintained her upbeat perspective and never failed to crack a smile or tell a funny story. Her loss leaves a void in the hearts and lives of her husband and all of her family and friends. She will be missed beyond words.

Linda is survived by her husband, Tim Harper, of Jenks; sisters, Rita Hanshaw Homa of Stafford, Virginia, and Brenda Hanshaw Davey of Niles; brother, Greg Hanshaw, and sister-in-law, Jackie Palomino Hanshaw of Stephens City, Virginia. Linda is also survived by a niece, Jessica Homa Bonk of Stafford, Virginia; nephew, Donny Davey and wife, Amanda of Cortland; niece, Emily Hanshaw, and nephew, Andrew Hanshaw, both of Stephens City, Virginia; grandnephews, Jason Bonk and Gavin Bonk of Stafford, Virginia, and Donny Davey III, Logan Davey, Chris Davey and Alex Davey of Cortland; stepdaughter, Kendall (Harper) and son-in-law, Arun Ramkhelawan of Tomball, Texas, and stepson, Stuart Harper of Tulsa, Oklahoma. In addition, she is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Lisa Harper of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Doug Kelly of Oologah, Oklahoma; and nephews, Braden Harper of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Garrett Harper of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and granddaughter, Nyla Ramkhelawan of Tomball, Texas.

Funeral services will take place at noon Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Evening Light Apostolic Church in Niles, with Pastor Darrell Cline officiating.

A family-only burial in Lordstown Cemetery will take place immediately following the service.
