John Huston Canty 1933-2025

WARREN — John Huston Canty, 91, departed this life to reside with his Heavenly Father on Monday, June 23, 2025, following an extended illness.
Born June 29, 1933, in Luverne, Crenshaw County, Alabama, John was the son of Lee and Alice Richburg Canty. A graduate from Crenshaw County Training School, John was a United States Army veteran.
A bus driver for the Warren City School System, John retired after 20-plus years in 1998.
John was a member of Progressive Baptist Church, where he served on the deacon ministry, was a member of the male chorus and for many years served as treasurer for the Canton-Warren-Youngstown Laymen’s Association of the Northern Ohio Baptist District Association.
He enjoyed gardening and all sports.
John leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Ruby, whom he married June 7, 1956; a son, John (Chalise) Canty of Niles; a daughter, Flora (Tracy) Bradley of Warren; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Progressive Baptist Church, 2258 Colonial St. SE, Warren, with viewing at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
