William Barbato 1962-2025

He was born July 15, 1962, in Youngstown, a son of Stephen and Helen Patek Barbato.

Bill was a 1980 graduate of Youngstown Chaney High School and worked as a cook for several area restaurants for many years, retiring in 2006.

He married the former Olivia A. Sampson on Oct. 1, 1994; together they shared more than 30 years of marriage and many happy memories. She survives him.

Bill enjoyed golfing and playing chess with his grandson. He was also an avid sports fan and loved to watch and cheer on the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Penguins.

Besides his wife, Bill is survived by three stepdaughters, Susan (Ron) Delaney of Columbus, Sonya Scarcelli of Niles, and Nicole Scarcelli, also of Niles. He also leaves behind a brother, Joseph (Ann Marie) Barbato of Struthers; a sister, Helene (Edward) Tyrrell of South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Maria, Noah, Gabriel, Grace, Faith, Kaitlyn and Nicholas; two great-granddaughters, Mia Bella and Sofia; and two nephews, Christopher and Steven.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Michael Barbato.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2025, at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown.

Friends may call one hour prior to services from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
