Florence Martin 1938-2024
NEWTON FALLS — Florence “Flo” Martin, 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 24, 1938, to Anthony and Anna Serotko Fabyan.
Florence was a lifelong resident of Newton Falls.
She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church, where she was a member and former president of the Christian Women’s Fellowship.
On Dec. 30, 1978, she was united in marriage at the First Christian Church to Jennings “Marty” Martin. They enjoyed 45 years together.
Florence retired in 1994 from Packard Electric in Warren after 28.5 years of service. Upon retiring, Flo and Marty spent 21 winters in their home in Florida. Flo was very crafty her whole life. While in Florida, she shared her crafting knowledge with her fellow snowbirds. Also bringing new ideas back to share with her hobby hunters group, where she was the president.
For many years Flo sold her crafts, handmade jewelry and baked goods at various craft shows. She also enjoyed playing bunco. She liked traveling to garage sales and having her own yearly garage sale. She was an avid watcher of and shopper on numerous home shopping networks.
Flo took pride in baking up delicious goodies that she shared with her family, neighbors and friends. She loved gifting her famous fudge to everyone. She doted on her grandchildren and great-grandsons, always thinking of them when she was shopping.
Florence is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Jennings “Marty” Martin; her loving daughters, Patti Hanzes and Cindy (Joe) Chick; her grandchildren, Jared (Mary Jeffers) Clonch, Erica (Vince) Pramik and Missy (Nate) Vesey; her great-grandsons, Caden, Chace and Conner Clonch, Vinny and Rowan Pramik, and Levi and Cole Vesey; her bonus children and grandchildren, Vickie Martin, Keith Martin, Lisa (Gary) Morris, Luke, Isaiah and Jeremiah Martin; her brothers, Joseph Fabyan and Dennis Musser; and sister, Dorothy Winland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Donald Musser, and Billy Ray Martin.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls, with the Rev. Daniel Wilson officiating. Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
She will be laid to rest in Newton Falls Cemetery.
