Douglas Lee Voithofer, 1949-2021
NILES — Douglas Lee Voithofer, 72, died at 12:26 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2021, in the emergency room of St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital following a heart attack suffered at home.
Douglas was born in Morgantown, W.Va., on Aug. 20, 1949, the son of Thomas and Juanita Jones Voithofer and came to Niles at a young age.
Doug graduated from Niles McKinley High School and retired following more than 20 years of service as an engineer for Conrail Railroad. He enjoyed walking his dogs and traveling to Las Vegas and New York City, where he attended the Yankees baseball games.
Douglas is survived by a daughter, Rachel Voithofer, with whom he lived; son, Tyson (Julie) Voithofer; brother, Thomas (Donna) Voithofer; and nephew, Wolfgang (Amy) Voithofer, all of Niles.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents.
Calling hours for relatives and friends will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021, at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Rev. Douglas Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
