Edward W. Sayers II 1950-2021

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — Edward Wilton Sayers II, 71, passed away at Northbrook Center, Wednesday, June 30, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. He will be greatly missed.

Edward was born in Warren, April 16, 1950, to Edward E. Sayers and Donna Jean Vangorder Sayers.

He was a 1969 graduate of Howland High School. He held a master’s degree from Kent State University and graduated cum laude. Edward proudly served in the Navy as a medic in Vietnam. He then returned to Warren, where he worked at Copperweld Steel before returning full time to active duty in the Navy, earning multiple awards as Recruiter of the Year. He retired from the Navy in 1997.

Edward was a wonderful father who always made time for his kids; you always knew you could count on him. He was always busy with his many hobbies, which included hunting, fishing, golf, pool and one of his all time favorites, bocce. He was a big supporter and member of the VFW, which he called the “V,” where he was affectionately known as “Doc.” He was also a member of the Moose Lodge. He loved music and spending time with his family and friends.

Edward is survived by his son, Edward Sayers; daughter, Renee Sayers; brother, Vaughn Sayers; sisters, Penny Ruddick, Jeanie Lampson and Darla Yount; grandsons, Koda and Samuel; ex-wife, Linda Sayers; and many nieces and nephews.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Sayers; half-sister, Betty Correll; daughter, Brandy Sayers; and his longtime girlfriend, Barbara Chryst.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced.
