Edward Earl Smith 1982-2021
STRUTHERS — Edward Earl Smith, affectionately named Eddie, entered eternal life Monday, July 5, 2021.
He was born Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1982, in Warren, the son of Kenneth Smith and Dianna Byers Smith.
A 2000 graduate of Champion High School, Eddie was pursuing his degree in business administration. He held a management position with Belmont Confections in Liberty for eight years and worked with the Nestle Company for the past three years as a deployment and vendor management analyst.
Eddie was very proud of his many accomplishments over the past 12 years. He did his best to live a life of daily gratitude. He rose to all occasions of challenge and hard work, succeeding to his delight. Eddie’s pride and joy exuded in his passion for family, technology, cooking and baking. He created many modes of entertainment and enjoyment for his loved ones to be carried on for many years to come. He leaves behind so many memories of contagious laughter, wit, wisdom and love. He accomplished so much more in life than he ever took credit for.
From pee wee leagues to high school teams, Eddie loved the game of baseball. Early in his teen years, Eddie threw a “no hitter.” In his high school years, Eddie served as a pitcher for the Champion Flashes. He was a sports lover and followed the Cleveland teams primarily. Eddie enjoyed entertaining and hosting family at home gatherings, the most recent being a Mahoning Valley Scrappers game enjoyed with family on July 4th. He loved to travel to Disney World and Siesta Key, Fla. He and his wife, Jess, enjoyed a trip to Hawaii in May. Eddie also attended many music concerts.
Eddie was a loving husband, son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of eight years, the former Jessica McBride, whom he married Oct.12, 2012; his parents, Kenneth and Audrey Smith of Liberty, and Dianna Koza of Vienna; his sister, Amanda Smith of Warren; grandparents, Wilma Smith of Warren and Wiley Byers of Warren; father and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Monica Ellis of Poland; stepsisters, Kim Fekety of Warren and Stacy Gardner of Florida; brothers-in-law, Trey and Zachary Ellis; nephews, Jordan and Zachery Smith; nieces, Annelise Kifer and Kyra Fekety; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Besides his stepfather, John J. Koza III, Eddie was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert E. Smith and Dorothy J. Byers; his stepbrother, Edward Gardner; uncles, Craig McKnight and Victor Byers; and aunt, Lynn Byers Britton.
A funeral service with the Rev. Fr. Kevin Marks officiating will take place Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at 11 a.m., at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, 463 Robinson Road, Campbell, Ohio.
