William R. Long 1932-2021

TWINSBURG — William R. Long, age 88, of Twinsburg, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021.

He was born on Oct. 18, 1932, in Northfield, to General Earl and Hazel Dye Long.

He married Grace Ann Andrews and they raised five children.

He retired Jan. 31, 1970, after 20 years of service with the U.S. Army as a crypto technician. After retiring from the service, Bill returned to Garrettsville with his family and was employed by Pelsue Drug Store. Years later, he moved to Orlando, Fla., and worked at the University of Central Florida.

He enjoyed being a member of the Newton Falls chapters of the V.F.W. Post No. 3332 and AMVETS, and Bill loved playing cards.

Bill will be missed by his children, Nancy (Donald) Baldwin, Karen (Timothy) Hill, William Long II, Linda (Jim) Starkey and Sandra Long; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Grace Ann, with whom he was blessed to share 58 years of marriage; his parents; and siblings, Edna Botkin, Charles Long, Robert Long and James Long.

Friends may join the family for a graveside service with military honors at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Park Cemetery in Garrettsville.
