Holly Schaeffer 1952-2021

WARREN — Holly Schaeffer, 68, passed away in her home on the morning of Thursday, April 15, 2021, while she was surrounded by her family.

Holly was born Dec. 24, 1952, in Warren, the daughter of Nancy and Hawley McCall and grew up alongside her younger brother, Jim, 65, who survives her.

She spent several years living in California and then Florida before returning to Ohio and starting a family of her own with her husband, Duane, 67, who also survives her.

After earning degrees in education and art history, Holly taught as an art teacher and then retired from Howland schools. She is well remembered there and very much valued the relationships she built through her school community.

Outside of school, Holly pursued artwork of her own, primarily in paint, drawing and mixed media. She loved spending time in the yard and garden she meticulously cared for, traveling and laughing with her friends.

She was very involved in her children’s lives and always encouraged them to pursue their passions. Nathan, 38, Lyndsay, 33 and granddaughter, Ofelia, 6, will deeply miss her presence.

Holly’s humor, creativity and love will be carried on through family and friends who celebrate her life.
