Bruce H. Maxwell 1934-2021

WARREN — Bruce H. Maxwell, 86, entered into eternal life Monday, April 5, 2021, at Trumbull Regional Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 27, 1934, in Yonkers, N.Y., the son of John and Ola Mabel Hawkes Maxwell and had lived in Ohio since 1994.

A proud veteran of the Navy, Bruce worked for many different telephone companies. He also worked as a bus driver for LaBrae schools and did side jobs as a locksmith. He enjoyed family, woodworking, reading books about King Tut and ancient Egypt and was a huge Navy fan, having made the trip one year to the annual Army-Navy football game.

He is sadly missed by his daughter, Marilyn “Max” Sweeny (Paul) of Howland; his son, Mark Maxwell (Tricia) of Warren; five grandchildren, Kai Gagnon (Steve), Lisa Floyd (Jason), Larkin Sweeny (Lisa), Kristina Johnson (Alex) and Joshua Maxwell; six great-grandchildren, Michael Hillman (Analee), Scotty Hillman USMC, Cameron Hillman, Trevor Gagnon, Taylor Hillman and Spencer Gagnon; two sisters-in-law, Donna Maxwell of Leonia, N.J. and Linda Maxwell of Palm Coast, Fla; one brother-in-law, Richard Way (Maureen) of Fishkill, N.Y; and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Preceding him in death are his parents, John and Ola Maxwell; his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, Marilyn L. Way Maxwell, whom he married Jan. 1, 1956, and who passed Nov. 12, 2020; one sister, Joyce Barefoot; and four brothers, Harold, Jack, Richard and Donald Maxwell.

Services are 3 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021, at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeffrey Baker officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Full military honors will be conferred. Masks are required and social-distancing practices will be observed.

His urn will be laid to rest 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021, in Howland Township Cemetery.
