Helen L. Peffer 1932-2021

WARREN — Helen L. Peffer, 88, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, at 3:40 p.m. at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

She was born Wednesday, May 11, 1932, in New Castle, Pa., the daughter of the late Wilber P. and Thelma E. Body Druschel Sr., and was a longtime area resident.

Helen worked as a financial secretary for 27 years at Bazetta Christian Church before retiring in 2007.

She has been a member since 1967 of Bazetta Christian Church, where she sang in the choir, performed with the bell choir and was deaconess. Helen enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.

She is survived by two sons, Richard A. (Beverly) Peffer Sr. of Girard and Robert C. Peffer Jr. of Chino Hills, Calif.; two sisters, Lois Stavana of Mecca and Beverly Haynie of Niles; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death, April 4, 1992, by her husband, Robert C. Peffer Sr., whom she married June 6, 1953; by her daughter, Terri L. Snyder; two brothers, Wilber Drushel Jr. and Dewhite Druschel; and two sisters, Doris Day and June Peigowski.

A private service for the family was held Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, with her grandson, Pastor Richard A. Peffer, Jr., as celebrant.

Burial took place in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her name to Bazetta Christian Church, 4131 Hoagland Blackstub Rd. Cortland, OH 44410.
