Douglas R. Park 1946-2021

CORTLAND — Douglas R. Park, 74, of Cortland, passed away at home peacefully surrounded by loved ones Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021.

He was born Oct. 29, 1946, in Warren, a son of the late James Park and the late Irene Platt Park.

Douglas graduated from Champion High School and attended Kent State University for two years. He was employed as a supervisor in the engineering department at Delphi Packard Electric, retiring after 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Vietnam War. Douglas was a member of the Harbor Yacht Club in Ashtabula, where he enjoyed sailing in his younger years and power boating in later years.

Surviving are two sons, Matthew (Alison) Park of Ohio and Richard (Danielle) Park of Howland; and five grandchildren, Nicholas, Preston, Zoe and Zac Park and Steve Martin.

Also surviving is his fiancee, Marlene Schultz of Perry; and his brother, Scott (Teri) Park of Punta Gorda, Fla.

He was preceded in by his parents and his wife, Jill Park.

A memorial service will be Jan. 16, 2021, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church Perry, 3918 Main St., Perry, OH 44081.

Military honors and burial will take place in Perry Township Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Douglas requested in lieu of flowers that all contributions be given in his name to St. Jude Hospital.
