Okey J. Williams Jr. 1929-2020

NEWTON FALLS — Okey James Williams Jr., 91, of Newton Falls, passed on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, in UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna.

He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on July 18, 1929, the son of Okey James Sr. and Jeannette Klein Williams.

Okey honorably served in the Army during the Korean conflict.

He had been employed by Rockwell Bumper and Southeast High School as a janitor and then at Lordstown GM Assembly Plant, from where he retired.

On Jan. 10, 1951, Okey and Avis Mae Turner were united in marriage.

She preceded him on July 8, 2019.

Okey enjoyed working around their home and in the yard, enjoyed traveling and socializing with neighbors. He collected bird houses and enjoyed scratching lottery tickets.

Loving memories of Okey will be carried on by his sons, Larry (Nancy) of Atwater, Mickey (Linda) of Diamond, Denis (Felicia) of West Virginia and Mark (Karyn) of Texas; his daughter, Kerry Williams of Newton Falls; his 12 grandchildren; and his seven great-grandchildren.

The family extends a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Country Club Rehabilitation Center in Newton Falls.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Okey to Hospice of Western Reserve at University Hospital, Ravenna, Ohio.

Interment will be on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, at 11 a.m. in Hawley Cemetery in Paris Township.
