James H. Wolford 1947-2020

RED WING, Minn. — James H. “Buddy” Wolford, 73, passed away at home in Red Wing, Minn., on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020.

He was born in Coalton, W.Va.

At 7 years of age his family moved to northeast Ohio, where he grew up. He graduated from high school in Cortland. He was drafted into the Army, served for two years and was honorably discharged in 1968.

He and Melissa J. Ralston were married in August 1969. He is survived by Melissa and their three sons, James Eric (Cork), Benjamin Tate (fiancee Stephanie Freemark) and Barton Ralston. He also has two granddaughters, Carlene Wolford (Elle Adams) and Clara Wolford (Corey Beste); and a great-grandson, Kai James Wolford Beste.

His remaining siblings are Joanne Mixon of West Virginia and Bobby Wolford (Pat) of Arkansas. He also had many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Rebecca Broschart Wolford; three sisters; and one brother.

There were no services. Buddy was cremated and will be returned to the special places in his life.

The family would like to especially thank nephews Chuck and Bill Shreves who, in times of trouble, allowed him to lean on them.
