Verna L. Cwynar 1921-2020

HOWLAND — Verna L. Cwynar, 99, entered peacefully into eternal life at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Home in Howland following a period of declining health.

She was born Jan. 14, 1921, in New Castle, Pa., the daughter of the late Gregory and Catherine Jendrysik Orlowski, and came to Warren in 1979.

Verna retired in 1979 after working more than 23 years as a glue machine operator at Airway Industries.

She was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-St. James Catholic Church.

Verna was a Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed the challenges of word puzzles.

She was married Sept. 8, 1938, to Stanley J. Cwynar, and they were married for 21 years until his passing June 27, 1960.

Fond memories of Verna will forever be remembered by her daughter, Patricia (Thomas) Chill, with whom she made her home; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, Verna was preceded in death her son, Stanley T. Cwynar; and siblings, Frank Orlowski, Caroline Orlowski, Sophie Gierlach and Helen Sniezek.

A private family service will take place Thursday with an Order of Christian Burial Service to take place at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home. Deacon Edward Kleese of the church will be celebrant. Burial will follow in Howland Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to take form of donations in Verna’s name to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 2532 Burton St. SE, Warren, OH 44484.
