Roger E. Platt 1938-2018

CHARLESTOWN — Roger E. Platt, 80, of Ravenna, formerly of Charlestown, passed away Wednesday, Dec.12, 2018.

He was born Oct. 9, 1938, in Warren, to Raymond and Mary May Mansell Platt.

Roger was a U.S. Army veteran, an electrician for GM in Lordstown and a member of UAW 1112. He enjoyed traveling and helping others.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Sandra S. Vair Platt; children, Bridget Platt, Brian (Lori) Platt and Brad (Steve Crook) Platt; stepchildren, Deborah (Charles) Hutton and Rick (Patty) Raber; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Elizabeth Easterday and Margie Kemble; and stepsiblings, Shirley Keck and Kent Dickerson; and his former wife, Joyce Shanklin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Martha Waggoner.

Memorial calling hours will be 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. Pastor Steve Garces will officiate. Burial will follow in Charlestown Cemetery.
