Jacques L. Holt Sr. 1933-2018
PARIS TOWNSHIP — Jacques Lynn Holt Sr., 85, entered peacefully into the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends, after a long battle of Alzheimer’s.
Jack was born Aug. 1, 1933, in West Farmington, to Robert L. Holt and Olive M. Lynn Holt.
He had graduated in 1951 from Farmington High School, where he played baseball and basketball and was on the track team. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted into the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country for four years and serving one year overseas in Guam.
In 1956, he met the love of his life, Dianna J. Greening of Jefferson. They married May 16, 1958, and had four beautiful children.
Jack and Dianna celebrated their 60th anniversary this year. They briefly lived in Warren and Wayland before building their dream home in 1964 in Paris Township.
Jack retired from Copperweld Steel Company after 33 years in 1984. Being a hard-working man, he soon found a part-time job with Nationwide Auto parts, where he worked for another 11 years, finally retiring in 1995.
Jack was a member of the American Legion Post 0713 and was a proud fireman for Paris Township Fire Department for 25 years. He was on the Newton Falls bowling league for many years and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and ice fishing.
In his spare time, he enjoyed boating, working in his garden, raising rabbits and chickens, feeding the birds and the squirrels, taking family vacations, and dancing on Saturday nights with his wife at Melody Lanes Dance Hall. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, having summer picnics with his family and friends and being surrounded by his family. He enjoyed watching old Westerns, his Cleveland Indians and football being a die-hard Rams football fan.
His loving memory will be carried on by his children, Brenda (Don) Persino of Newton Falls, Jacques “Jack” L. Holt Jr. of Paris Township, Janice (Donald) Kelley of Southington; his sister, Jean (Jim) Cross of Kalispell, Mont.; his brother-in-law, Bernie (Nadine) of Warren; his grandchildren, Jonathan (Roxanne) Holt of Maryland, Timothy Holt of Paris Township, Brittany Wentworth of Paducha, Ky., Bridgett (Edwin) Duncan of Paris Township, Chad Hunt of Paris Township, Diana Hunt of Paris Township, Starr (Rob) Kelley of Warren, Jeremy (Ashley) Kelley of Warren, Robert (Jennifer) Kelley of Niles, Leeanna Persino of Warren, Amanda Persino of Girard; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at the funeral home.
Jacques will be laid to rest with his wife in New Reformed Cemetery in Southington.
