Earnest J. Dawson 1937-2018
FRANKLIN, Pa. — Earnest J. “Ernie” Dawson, 81, of Franklin, Pa., passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, at Grove City Medical Center.
Born April 17, 1937, in Belfry, Ky., he was the son of the late Joseph and Ethel Muncy Dawson.
Ernie proudly served his country in the United States Army Airborne during the Korean Conflict.
He worked for many years as a union electrician and then owned and operated his own business, Dawson Electric.
Ernie enjoyed antique cars and attending flea markets, gun shows and car shows.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Ernie attended First United Methodist Church in Franklin.
On Sept. 8, 1984, he married the former Barbara A. Vath and she survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Brenda Armstrong of Ohio; a stepdaughter, Michelle Burgess of Alabama; six grandchildren, Brent Armstrong and Danny Armstrong, both of Ohio, Brooke Armstrong of Virginia, Jimmy Morris of Ohio, and Candace Morris and Charity Morris, both of Virginia; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Sue Morris.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St., Franklin, where family and friends are welcome noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Wade Berkey, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.
