Catherine L. Sanfrey 1925-2018

WARREN — Catherine L. Sanfrey, 93, of Warren, passed away surrounded by her family, Sunday morning, Dec. 16, 2018, at the Trumbull Regional Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 3, 1925, in Salem, a daughter of Denton and Mary Urmetz Votaw.

Catherine was a 1943 graduate of Salem High School, and worked for her family business, Sanfrey Freight Inc. in Warren, for many years.

She married Mickey J. Sanfrey on Dec. 21, 1946. They shared almost 47 years of marriage and many happy memories together. He preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1993.

Catherine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Champion. She oversaw the church’s library for many years and she also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles.

She is survived by seven children, Carol Sanfrey of Warren, with whom she made her home, Jon (Julianne) Sanfrey of North Carolina, Steven Sanfrey of Howland, Kathy Sanfrey and Dan Sanfrey, both of Warren, and William (Diane) Sanfrey and Jamie (Jerry) Ketterman, both of Howland. She also leaves behind a brother, Arthur (Gladys) Votaw, and a sister, Patricia Shasteen, both of Salem; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Catherine was preceded in death by a son, Michael J. Sanfrey; a brother, Albert Votaw; three sisters, Margaret Balsley, Helen Votaw and Dorothy Allison; and a grandson, Joshua Sanfrey.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1321 State Road NW, Warren, OH 44481, with Bishop Ray Powell officiating.

Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, 533 N. Park Ave., Warren, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Catherine will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in the Meadow Brook Memorial Park in Champion.
