Dorothy J. Johnson 1930-2018

GREENWOOD, Ind. — Dorothy Joanne Johnson, 88, of Greenwood, Ind., passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, at Greenwood Village South, Greenwood, Ind.

She was born March 20, 1930, in Parkers Landing, Pa., a daughter of the late Robert E. and Dorothy Christy Dittman.

In 1950, Joanne married Robert A. Johnson.

After graduating from Champion High School, class of 1948, she later went on to receive her bachelor’s in Education from Kent State University, and also her master’s in Counseling from the University of Dayton. Joanne returned to her alma mater to pursue her career as a school teacher.

She was an active member of both Champion Presbyterian and Champion Christian churches. Joanne recently attended Southport Christian Church in Indianapolis, Ind. In addition to being a church youth advisor, Joanne also was a Girl Scouts leader.

Joanne loved to go camping, traveling and spending time with her friends and family.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Connie Johnson (Roger) Long of Worthington; sons, Randall (Sandra) Johnson of Greenwood, Ind.,and Jeffrey (Jill) Johnson of Naperville, Ill.; grandchildren, Melinda Long, Rebecca (Garrett) Longsmith, Krista Johnson (Clint) Weicksel, Timothy (Mackenzie) Johnson, Michael (Samantha) Johnson, Robert Johnson and Christopher Johnson; as well as her great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Theodore Johnson and Beatrice Weicksel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 53 years, Robert A. Johnson.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at Champion Christian Church, where Pastor Kenneth Hopkins will officiate.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church, and also 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Champion Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Camp Christian, 10335 Maple Dell Road, Marysville, Ohio 43040.
