Sylvia Connelly 1940-2018

WARREN — Sylvia Connelly, 78, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, at Humility House in Austintown.

She was born in 1940, the daughter of Robert and Mary Connelly of Youngstown.

Sylvia graduated from Chaney High School in 1958, attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing for a time, and spent four years in the Women’s Army Corps as a lab technician in both San Antonio and Denver.

She later managed the medical lab for Dr. Urban in Mecca and also worked with the elderly.

She leaves her sister, Shirley (Joseph) Schulay of Howland; brother, Jack (Pat) Connelly of Houston; nieces and nephews, Pamela Owen of Cleveland, Robert (Tracie) Morris of West Farmington, Steve (Rayann) Schulay and Michael (Holly) Schulay of Columbus, Brian (Kara) Connelly of Portland and Shaun (Vicki) Connelly of Houston; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; one great-great niece; and her good friend, Evelyn Gunter of Lake Milton. Sylvia loved animals of all types, especially her dog Max and her cats, treating them as family.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father. Sylvia donated her body to medical science, like her father before her.

Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours. After cremation, she will be interred near her parents in Austintown. The family will celebrate her life at that time.
