Earl G. Monroe 1931-2018

CORTLAND — Earl G. Monroe, 87, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at the Hospice House in Poland.

Earl was born March 3, 1931, in Warren, to the late George D. and Nellie Clark Monroe.

Earl married the former Eileen W. Rudkin on Oct. 6, 1956, at St. Mary Church in Warren. He was employed at Allied Metals and then Parker Hannifin for 34 years as a crane operator.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen; his daughter, Lisa (Robert) Yund of Medina; his son, Mark (Renee) Monroe of Greenville, S.C.; five grandchildren, Megan (Buddy) Wolf of Wadsworth, Sean Moran of Akron, Kevin Moran of Manhattan, N.Y, and Jordan Frost and Mason Monroe of Greenville, S.C.; three step-grandchildren, Kristi Stovall and Patricia Johnston of Florida and Mary Yund of Akron; two great-granddaughters, Eliana Wolf and Avery Wolf; and four step-great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sisters, Grace Crytzer, Rachel (Ed) Consla and Nancy (Bob) Spatholt.

Besides his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his brothers, William, Danny and Paul; and sister, Marion Monroe.

Friends may call 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at the Lane Funeral Home, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St. in Cortland, where the Rev. Carl Kish will celebrate Earl’s life at 11 a.m. Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery.
