Charles A. Granger 1941-2018
YOUNGSTOWN — Charles A. “Sonnie” Granger, 77, of Youngstown, died at 9:20 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at Assumption Village Nursing Home.
He was born June 11, 1941, in Niles, the son of Ralph and Frances DeLaratta Granger.
He was a 1960 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and was employed at WCI Steel in Warren as a slitter helper for 37 years, retiring in 2004.
Charles was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Youngstown, coached football for the Our Lady of Mount Carmel School Mounts in Niles, the Niles VFW and the Moose Midgets teams. He enjoyed golfing, reading and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He will be sadly missed by a daughter, Mary (John) Morgan of Campbell; a brother, Ralph (Helen) Granger of Niles; and two grandchildren, William Granger and Kaitlynn Morgan.
Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at The Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road, Youngstown, Ohio 44511. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Duane Jesse officiating. Charlie will be honored for his military services immediately following the services at the church.
