Raymond R. Rigsby 1960-2013

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Raymond Richard Rigsby, 53, of Johnstown, Pa., died at 10:25 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at the Pittsburgh Presbyterian Hospital of heart failure.

He was born Nov. 15, 1960, in Cortland, the son of Donald Woodrow Rigsby and the former Nancy Phillips.

Ray was a 1979 Lakeview High School graduate.

He was an auto parts manager for 20-plus years at Thomas Chevrolet and Subaru in Bedford, Pa.

Some of his hobbies were NASCAR, and collecting model airplanes and military die-cast model vehicles. He also loved John Wayne movies and the older military movies.

However, Ray loved spending much of his time with his family especially his grandson.

Survivors include his daughter, Stephanie (Corey) Wheland of Munhall, Pa.; one grandson, Greyson Wheland; his mother and stepfather, Nancy and Douglas Tackett of Warren; two brothers, Larry (Darlene) Rigsby of Champion and Phillip Rigsby of Cortland; one sister, Lisa (Greg) Luscher of Cortland; and his former wife and lifelong friend, Helene Petrovich of Johnstown, Pa.

His father preceded him in death.

Family and friends may visit from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m., with Randi Pappa officiating.
