Joseph Badger and Mespo boards of education fill openings

The Joseph Badger and the Bloomfield-Mespo school districts were both able to fill vacancies on their school boards.

In Joseph Badger, Superintendent Ed Baldwin said the board selected Howard Fraley and William Burns to fill two openings.

He said Fraley and Burns were selected from five applicants for the two vacancies.

Fraley is a teacher at the Trumbull Career & Technical Center and Burns is a former school board member. Both will serve four-year terms.

Baldwin said there were three openings on the board in the November 2025 general election and only incumbent Jared Klingensmith ran and was reelected.

Klingensmith will serve as board president and Laisa Thompson as vice president.

Thompson is also the representative to the Trumbull Career & Technical Center for one more year and Glenn Hall as the liaison to the Ohio School Boards Association.

The board set meetings for 6 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month.

In Bloomfield-Mespo, the board selected Rebecca Kaiser to fill an opening on the board.

Treasurer Robert Hollada said Kaiser, a 30-year community member, will serve for two years and then if she wants to continue in the seat, will need to run in the November 2027 general election

Hollada said former board member Justin Sly chose not to seek reelection and no one filed for that seat in the November general election. Sly had been a board member for 20 years.

Dave Peterson was named board president and Brannon Murphy as vice president and representative to the TCTC board.

Tim Covey was named liaison to the Ohio School Boards Association.

The board meets at 6:30 p.m. the third Thursday of the month.

Starting at $3.23/week.
