WHAT: Board of education meeting Dec. 15

PRESENT: Vince Ragozine, Sue Ellen Harris Davis, Joseph Datchuk, Joseph Castor and Tammy King

The board:

• Recognized Davis for eight years as a board member and Datchuk for four years as a board member. It was their last meeting.

• Accepted the retirement of Angela Cole as secretary at the high school / middle school effective Dec. 31 after 29 years of service.

• Accepted holiday dinners for 10 families from Steel City Warriors and for 10 families from the Boo Squad.

• Accepted $3,000 donation from Morgan Engineering for the teen institute.

• Accepted a donation of hats, gloves and combs for 700 Prospect Elementary School students from Olivia Plant and Girard Manor residents.

• Approved an agreement with Chrystal Clean Ground Management for snow removal and salting services at four different schools.

• Hired Thomas Chirozzi as a bus driver at $22.37 per hour.

• Approved substitute bus driver pay $19 per hour.

• Set the organizational meeting for 5 p.m. Jan. 14.

WHAT: Board of education meeting Dec. 8

PRESENT: Russell Sewell, Tim Gibson, Karen Ancell, Bradley Gamlin and Julia Shutt

The board:

• Accepted the retirements of Deborah Lynch, head custodian at LaBrae complex, effective Feb. 27 and Teresa Frederick, aide at Bascom Elementary, effective May 29.

• Approved Dalton Fussnecker as winter physical fitness instructor, replacing Jon Elliott, who resigned.

• Set the organizational meeting for 6 pm. Jan. 12 at the complex band room.
