Hubbard Township
WHAT: Trustees meeting Nov. 11
PRESENT: William Colletta, Jason Tedrow and Monica Baker
Trustees:
• Swore in part-time police officer William Ross, who brings 30 years of experience to the department.
• Approved purchasing Tasers and body cameras for $75,026.
• Heard from trustee Jason Tedrow that there’s an opening for a township resident to serve on the Eagle Joint Fire District’s board for a three-year term, and interested residents can send their resume to the township or email a trustee.
• Approved having the township’s planning committee review templates provided by the Trumbull County Planning Commission for the Youngstown Air Reserve Station project.
• Approved accepting the updated maps prepared by the county’s planning commission and to be used by the township for 2026.
• Approved a contract with Meridian Health Services for 2026 for the random drug testing of commercially licensed township road department employees.
Howland
WHAT: Board of Education meeting Monday
PRESENT: Julie Altawil, Jeff Pegg, Wendy Miller, Brianne Perry and Ken Jones
The board:
• Accepted the following donations: $20 from Lauren Friend to the Howland High School 018 account for 2006 and 2007 yearbooks; $1,000 from St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish and Brenda Antenucci to the high school to enhance the Paw Pantry, through food, clothes and personal care items; $200 from Natalie Lussier to the National Honor Society in lieu of fundraising; $150 from Jeff and Nicole Pegg to the Hubbard Junior High School newspaper club for a newscast backdrop; $200 in the form of 25 boxed Subway meals from Cortland Subway / the Rudesill family to feed veterans after the school’s Veterans Day assembly; two iPads from the Howland Booster Club to activities and Andrea Ferenac; $150 from NR McDonalds / Knoth Management Group Inc. to the activities department and Andrea Ferenac; $629 from DonorsChoose.org to Howland High School Robotics.
• Approved disposing of a Sharp CS-2610 desk-adding machine, a generator and pressure washer from the district’s maintenance department and a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado.
• Approved Leslie Gumino and Vincent Procopio as substitute head teachers for the 2025-26 school year.
• Accepted Ryan Frantz’s resignation as a permanent substitute, effective Oct. 24.
• Accepted Jordyn Pregibon’s resignation as a permanent substitute, effective Oct. 24.
• Approved issuing a one-year limited contract to Frantz as an educational assistant at Howland Glen, effective Oct. 27.
• Approved issuing a one-year limited contract to Pregibon as an educational assistant at Howland Glen, effective Oct. 27.
• Approved family medical leave of absence for Mikalyn Mrozek, from Aug. 1, 2025, through Nov. 14, 2025.
• Approved Nicole Hinkle for two weeks of unpaid dependent leave, effective Nov. 3 through Nov. 14.
• Approved a contractual agreement between the district and Victory Christian School from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, to provide Title 1 services to the district’s students at the school.
