WHAT: Township park board meeting Friday
PRESENT: Shawn Pompelia, Jessica Gault and Allen Seman
The board:
• Is seeking quotes to see if it is feasible to turn the old basketball court into a pickleball court at the township park.
• Is seeking quotes for ditch work on the eastern side of the park as nearby property owners want water to flow better in the ditch, which is near their yards.
• Will seek legal counsel because the surface under Tiger Town is falling apart. Trustees said they will see what options they have to get it fixed.
• Will resurface a section of the park road to be done in conjunction with the township’s summer paving program.
• Will have Southside Excavating do phase 2 of the drainage project at the park.
• Announced music in the park concerts will be at 6 p.m. on various Sundays with the last concert Aug. 17. The high school marching band will perform Aug. 15.

WHAT: Township trustees meeting June 2
PRESENT: Lynn Michalec and Todd Williams
ABSENT: Jeff Davis
Trustees:
• Approved Todd Metzendorf as fire chief effective June 1. Fire Chief Fred Youngbluth retired effective May 31.
• Approved payment to Cortland for April medic assists for $1,140.
• Approved payment to Lifeforce billing for April invoice for $795.
• Approved payment to Prout Boiler for repairs on the boiler at the fire station for $508.
• Approved Hudson Communications payment of $1,485.
• Reported that the road department has started roadside mowing.

Cortland
WHAT: City council meeting June 2
PRESENT: Kevin Piros, Don Moore, Jim Bradley, Kathy Fleischer, Richard McClain, John Picuri, Scott Rowley and Mayor Deidre Petrosky
Council:
• Voted 4-3 on second reading for updating the purchasing procedures for the city. The proposed changes are to increase the city’s departmental threshold level from $5,000 to $7,500 while expenditures of $7,500 or more shall require obtaining three quotes, if applicable, and will need to be submitted to council for approval through an ordinance prior to the expenditure except in the event of emergency circumstances.
• Requested the county auditor to advance $100,000 collected through real estate taxes for the general fund, $200,000 for the police levy fund and $200,000 for the fire levy fund.
• Heard from fire Chief David Rea that an ambulance with 100,000 miles on it needs $8,000 in various repairs such as brakes. He said to get a new ambulance will take two to three years.
• Plan to schedule a work session on updates to the safety service complex.
