Drive-by shooting reported on Warren’s northeast side

WARREN — City police are investigating a drive-by shooting that damaged a home and a vehicle in Warren late Saturday.

According to a Warren police report, the incident occurred around 10:23 p.m. in the 600 block of Paige Avenue NE. Officers responded to the scene after receiving reports of gunfire and were met by a woman on Paige Avenue.

The woman said she was sitting on her front porch when a black sedan, possibly a Chrysler 300 or similar Dodge model, drove east on Paige Avenue and began firing shots, the report states.

She claimed the vehicle struck her home’s side and front windows before turning south on Fairfield Street NE and fleeing the area.

Another resident told police he was inside his home on Paige Avenue when he heard shots fired and took cover, according to the report. The man later discovered a bullet hole in the rear driver’s side door of his green Chevrolet Cruze, the report noted.

Officers recovered three spent 9mm cartridge cases and one unspent caliber round on Fairfield Street NE, which were logged as evidence. Photographs were taken of the damaged property and the report states no injuries were reported.

The suspect or suspects remain unidentified and the motive for the shooting is unclear, according to the report. Police provided the victims with incident details for follow-up and cleared the scene after collecting evidence.
