WHAT: Township trustees meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Michael Hovis, Bob McBride and Michael Morelli

Trustees:

• Tabled purchasing playground equipment for Imagination Station from Snider Recreational Inc. for $296,985 once their contract with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources is approved on or around May 19. Morelli explained that they had a special meeting and Michael Snider’s presentation left a “favorable” impression and they’d like to accept, but they want to do it with everything intact. Morelli said he expects to have the remaining CAD drawings for the equipment by today and will “likely” have something for next month’s meeting.

• Reported that they received a bid from RT Vernal Paving and Excavating totaling $493,392 to pave McCleary Jacoby Road, which is $148,326 below the engineer’s estimate. As a result, the township will be able to conduct partial depth repair on Cadwallader Sonk, Timberline and Ravine Run.

• Approved partial depth repair work through the county engineer’s office at their estimated $10,253 for RT Vernal Paving and Excavating at a match price to be paid out of the general fund.

• Approved raising off-duty rates for officers and cruisers per police Chief Christopher Herlinger’s request as follows: off-duty rate from $45 to $50 an hour; off-duty holiday rate from $70 to $75 an hour; cruiser fee from $20 to $25 an hour and bingo detail from $120 to $150.

• Heard from Road Superintendent Michael Arnal that with state Route 46 closed for repaving, McCleary Jacoby Road is getting a lot more traffic, so they’ve been trying to get potholes filled.

• Approved mosquito spraying for $1,890 on July 9 and Aug. 6. It will be paid for out of the general fund, but the township will be reimbursed through a Trumbull County Combined Health District grant for $1,667.

• Approved purchasing 700 tons of salt through the county’s road salt program.

• Approved 3250 and 4362 Hoagland Blackstub Road and 3384 Durst Clagg Road for high grass nuisance abatements.

• Approved 4160 North Park Avenue for burned-out structure abatement.

• Approved declaring 2216 Niles Cortland Road a nuisance for junk vehicles and scrap.

• Heard from fire Chief Thomas Rink that Brian Schotsch and Cole McIssac completed their 120-hour Fire Officer I and II classes.
