Niles fire hydrant flushing to start
NILES — The Niles Fire Department will begin its annual city-wide hydrant flushing program Monday to maintain water quality and assess the functionality of hydrants served by the city.
The flushing is expected to take two to three weeks, weather permitting. Three crews will work daily in various neighborhoods to flush hydrants.
Residents in affected areas may notice temporary low water pressure or discoloration in their water supply. The Niles Fire Department advises running cold water for a short period until any discoloration clears.
