Warren police respond to multiple shots fired calls over weekend

WARREN — Police responded to multiple reports of gunfire across Warren over the weekend and recovered spent shell casings in four separate incidents.

According to a Warren police report, the first incident occurred early Friday morning in the 1300 block of Belvedere Avenue SE near the intersection of Youngstown Road and Clarence Street. Officers responding to shots fired about 12:51 a.m. discovered three 9mm cartridge casings. Two casings were found in the road and one in a residential front yard. A witness reported seeing an individual fire rounds into the ground before entering a nearby residence, the report states.

Early Saturday, police were called to the 1900 block of Hazelwood Avenue SE around 12:15 a.m. after reports of gunfire. Officers recovered 12 spent shell casings in a parking lot behind the address. A caller told dispatchers a dark-colored sedan fled the scene after the shooting. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Later that night, officers responded to a shooting with property damage in the 2000 block of Hamilton Street SW near Nevada and Delaware Avenues about 10:13 p.m.

A caller reported that a shooter fired a round through the taillight of a parked 2015 maroon Chevrolet Malibu, with the bullet penetrating the rear seat. Police collected one fired 9mm casing and the lodged bullet as evidence.

The fourth incident occurred early Sunday in the 2500 block of Draper Street SE near Niles Road and Center Avenue. A resident reported hearing multiple gunshots around 1:20 a.m. and seeing a white Toyota Camry leave the area. Officers recovered 14 .40-caliber shell casings in a vacant lot behind the home.

No arrests were immediately reported in any of the incidents.
