WHAT: Township trustees meeting Tuesday.

PRESENT: Steve Gerberry, Rich Harkins and Ed Whittaker.

Trustees:

•Approved applying for $500,000 Rural Development Community Facilities Grant through community project funding through Congressman Dave Joyce’s office. Funding would be used to complete HVAC and roofing upgrades at the township administration building.

•Heard from Gerberry that work by Miller Yount Paving has begun on the pickleball courts at the park with funds for the project provided by the county commissioners.

•Announced paving work will begin on County Line Road and Webb Road. It is an Ohio Public Works Commission project.

•Set Memorial Day ceremony for 9 a.m. May 26 at the community park.

•Donated $100 to the Mineral Ridge Volunteer Fire Department Association for support of Memorial Day decorations at the graves of former firefighters.

•Donated $300 to Scout Troop 83 and $100 to the Girard American Legion in support of Memorial Day ceremony preparations for placing more than 1,400 flags and markers at veterans’ graves.

•Approved renewing membership with the Ohio Department of Administrative General Services Division Office cooperative purchasing program at an annual fee of $100.

•Reminded residents that open burning is not permitted in the township.

•Reminded residents to remove decorations from the cemeteries by April 30 so township work crews can do spring cleaning.

•Announced spring cleanup in the township is the week of April 28, with residents to place materials curbside on the same night as their garbage pickup.

•Announced community document shredding will be 8 to 10 a.m. May 3 at the park.
