WHAT: Board of education meeting Monday

PRESENT: Patricia Fisher, David Mahan, John Pitts, Aaron Abrahamson and Jim Scher

The board:

• Hired teachers for the 2025-26 school year: Emily Crossley as high school biology, Tory Durkovic as high school math, Samantha Mawhinney as kindergarten and Anthony Meyer as high school health and physical education. The teachers are filling openings because of retirements and resignations.

• Recognized the varsity boys bowling team and coach Joseph Phelps for placing first at the Northeast Ohio district and for qualifying for the state bowling tournament.

• Accepted the retirement resignation of Elaine Garretson, bus driver, with 30 years of service effective May 31.

• Heard from Jessica Hrubik, middle school language arts teacher, on the various collaborative AI class projects the advanced language arts students have worked on.

• Announced the annual arts extravaganza will be 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the middle and elementary schools.
