WHAT: Township trustees meeting Tuesday
PRESENT: Steve Gerberry, Rich Harkins and Ed Whitaker
Trustees:
• Approved Ryan Zagotti of Canfield as a part-time police officer effective Feb. 28.
• Accepted the retirement resignation of Lynda Briach, administrative assistant, effective May 31. Officials said Briach worked eight years and previously was a dispatcher.
• Approved the demolition of property at 1380 Depot St. to demolish the structure and remove junk vehicles.
• Approved applying for a Community Development Block Grant for proposed demolition of 10 homes throughout the township.
• Announced the township received a $3,500 Go Green grant from Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District for a community document shredding event May 3 at the park and to purchase and install trash containers at the park.
• Set the spring cleanup for the week of April 28 with items needing to be placed at curbside the same night as regular trash collection.
• Reminded residents to remove decorations by April 30 so crews can clean the cemeteries for spring.
• Announced the Ohio Department of Transportation has secured a safety funding grant for the replacement of sidewalks along Main Street between Stewart and Seaborn streets. The project is scheduled for summer 2027.

Bristol
WHAT: Township trustees meeting March 4.
PRESENT: Doug Seemann, Jim Cicchillo and Jeff Waldeck.
Trustees:
• Heard from resident Mary Ann Riedel that the Bristol Historical Society will host a ceremony Aug. 16 to open up the time capsule from 2000. She said there will be a 50th class reunion for Bristol schools that same weekend.
• Heard from Riedel there will be a 250th anniversary of the township set for summer 2026 when a new time capsule will be buried in the front lawn of the fire station. She said the township anniversary will coincide with the 250th anniversary of the nation.
• Received a $975 donation from the Bristol Historical Society for the historical museum account with funds coming from the recent chili cookoff.
• Were asked by the historical society to make the print on the sign with cemetery rules at North Bristol Cemetery larger and darker to make them more visible.
• Heard from fire Chief Steve Craiger to make an agreement form when equipment or vehicles are borrowed or loaned to another fire department. Seemann said he will contact Ohio Township Association Risk Management Authority to see what needs to be in the agreement and about liability. An ambulance borrowed by the Girard Fire Department recently was covered by insurance. Craiger said Liberty may want to buy one of the ambulances.
• Discussed the need for work on Oakfield North Road, which officials said is in poor condition.
• Heard from Seemann the township is putting together a social media page and working on usage guidelines policy on what can go on the site.Officials said no comments from residents or township employees can go on the site, just informational materials.
• Heard from Craiger the fire department has been meeting with Mecca officials over a possible joint fire district.
• Heard from Seemann the township is working with the sheriff’s office on a new police coverage agreement for 2025.
• Announced the zoning commission will meet 6 p.m. Monday for a public hearing on text revisions.
• Will meet with county officials March 19 to discuss how much in Community Development Block Grant funds are available for demolitions.
