WHAT: Township trustees meeting Feb. 11
PRESENT: Mike Hovis, Mike Morrelli and Bob McBride
Trustees:
• Approved the county engineer’s office to advertise for bids for the paving of McCleary Jacoby Road, which is an Ohio Public Works Commission project.
• Approved the purchase of three new pairs of fire boots and helmets at $5,500 for the fire department.
• Reported the comprehensive plan steering committee met recently to begin updating the plan, which has not been updated since 2010. Hovis said the plan provides guidance on best usage of properties. Deanna Longo and Cheryl Tennant are overseeing the committee, which will be sending out a community survey.
• Reported to date the township has incurred $5,821 in legal fees and numerous administrative hours on the county auditor’s office failure to deposit tax money in addition to the time of looking into and responding to public record requests and other inquiries.
• Reported that Walter Maycher, who served as a longtime zoning commission member for more than 40 years, died Feb. 2.
• Accepted the resignation of zoning commissioner Howard Wetzel and appointed Ed Carr to fill Wetzel’s unexpired term through December 2028.
• Appointed Shannon Watson, Mary Gearhart, Martha Urchek and Rich Urchek to the volunteer park board for two-year terms through December 2026.
• Announced the fire department’s “Coffee with the Crew” will be 8:30 a.m. each Tuesday.
• Announced the senior watch program is in place. Seniors wanting to be checked on by safety forces can call the police department at 330-638-5503.
