WHAT: Board of education meeting Wednesday.

PRESENT: Jared Bilas, Scott Chapman, Don Mickel, Kristina Stephens and Brooke Vondrasek.

The board:

• Approved the school calendar for the 2025-26 year with the first day for students Aug. 20 and last day for students May 26, 2026.

• Heard from Superintendent Christopher Dray that work was done after a small pipe leak at the high school teacher’s lounge restroom. School was canceled since water was on the floor and stairs, and officials did not want students and staff to slip.

• Approved a volunteer bowling coach and a volunteer swim coach for district students who take part in the two activities which are off-school site.

• Approved Ernest Clutter to the library board of trustees effective Jan. 1 for a seven-year term through December 2031.

• Approved high school students in the college credit plus dual enrollment to take college classes from Kent State University while in school.

• Approved Candace Mansfield on an as-needed basis at her current secretary-to-superintendent rate as a temporary payroll assistant to the treasurer for the 2025-26 school year.

• Approved an agreement with the Trumbull County Educational Service Center for special education services for 2025 at $704,046.
