Small fire breaks out at Falls motel, one firefighter injured
NEWTON FALLS — A fire at the Falls Inn on state Route 5 early Tuesday morning was contained to a single room, authorities said. Newton Falls Joint Fire District Chief James Williamson said crews responded just after 5 a.m. and extinguished the flames within six minutes.
Trumbull County Sheriff’s deputies were on the scene first, using fire extinguishers to manage the flames before firefighters arrived.
One firefighter was injured after slipping on a ladder but is expected to recover, Williamson said, calling the injuries “non-life-threatening.”
The Ohio State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
A man who occupied the room was arrested on unrelated charges.
Agencies from Braceville, Warren Township, Southington and Champion assisted.
