WHAT: City council meeting Jan. 6
PRESENT: Kevin Piros, Don Moore, Jim Bradley, Kathy Fleischer, Richard McClain, John Picuri, Scott Rowley and Mayor Deidre Petrosky
Council:
• Heard a reminder from Petrosky about not creating large snow mounds at the end of driveways or by the road from blowing or shoveling snow, which may prevent motorists from seeing.
• Approved the appointment of Susan Fell to the parks and recreation board for five years through 2029, and re-appointed Frank Daugherty to the planning, zoning and building commission and William Brooker to the zoning board of appeals, both for five-year terms through 2029.
• Heard from police Chief David Morris that he sold a police vehicle that was no longer needed for $23,000 as part of the department’s vehicle rotation after vehicles have been used for five to six years.
• Heard from Finance Director Patricia Gibson that bids are being reviewed by Law Director Patrick Wilson for GAAP conversion services.
• Announced because of Martin Luther King Day Monday, council will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Other changes this year are Presidents Day on Feb. 17, so council will meet Feb. 19, and Labor Day on Sept. 1, so council will meet Sept. 3.
• Approved Gibson to serve as clerk of council / president pro-tempore in the absence of Council Clerk Rhonda Horn.
