WHAT: Village council meeting Wednesday

Council:
• Heard from Village Manager Mike Novotny that Dunkin Donuts has opened at the corner of state Routes 5 and 534. He said he and Law Director Jeff Limbian are working on the annexation of property at the location from Braceville to Newton Falls. Novotny said at the Route 5 entrance and exit to the business, a barrier has been set up in the center of the road to prevent anyone going onto Route 5 from crossing oncoming traffic to go east.
• Announced there are openings on the planning/ zoning board and treasury investment board for any residents wanting to serve.
• Heard from Novotny a new village social media site has been set up after the village faced issues with the past one when administrations changed.
• Heard from Novotny construction work will be taking place at Route 5 and First Street for the potential sale of the property for a recycling company. The issue will be addressed at the planning and zoning board since a variance is needed. Novotny said the property is in the village and will generate income tax revenue. He said work on the project will take two years.
• Heard from Novotny legislation will be prepared for a future meeting for the vacating of Jackson Street and allowing three adjoining properties to acquire land.
