Mother, children forced to duck during Warren shooting

WARREN — A mother and her children were forced to take cover on the floor Tuesday night when gunfire struck their home on Jefferson Street SW, according to police.

Officers responded to the residence around 10:14 p.m. after receiving a report of gunshots in the area, according to a Warren police report.

The resident told police she was in bed with her children when she heard about 10 shots fired near her home.

She grabbed her children and ducked to the floor before calling 911.

A neighbor reported seeing a red sedan speeding away from the area shortly after the shots were heard.

Police found two bullet holes on the east side of the home, one on the first floor and another on the second. Both bullets penetrated the walls, but no one was injured. Officers reported no shell casings or footprints in the snow around the property.

The resident suggested police check Mason Street NW for the red sedan, but no vehicle matching the description was located.
