WHAT: Township trustees meeting Wednesday.
PRESENT: Matthew Vansuch, James Lapolla and Frank Dillon.
Trustees:
• Approved applying for an Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal fire department equipment grant for $15,000 with no local match. Fire Chief Ray Pace said the money can be used for personal protective equipment.
• Approved applying for an Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal reimbursement grant of $1,200.
• Approved applying for the CSX Pride in Service grant awards from $2,500 to $25,000 with no township match for fire equipment.
• Appointed James Hosack to finish a term on the board of zoning appeals through December, and Michael Smylie as an alternate to board of zoning appeals through December 2026.
• Heard from township Administrator James Pantalone who said design meetings have taken place for the new township website.
• Appointed Tyler Bradford Williams to the zoning commission through December 2029.
• Reappointed John Rubesich to the board of zoning appeals through December 2029.
• Accepted the resignation of Patricia Gilmore from the board of zoning appeals retroactive to October.
• Heard from Planning Director Kim Mascarella that the East Market Street corridor plan steering committee met recently to discuss improvements.
• Accepted $3,310 for the scrap tire reimbursement grant from the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District.
• Approved paying the county engineer $56,527 for salt.
• Learned the Can the Cruiser event Saturday, held in conjunction with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, generated $3,317 in cash and 5,350 pounds of food for local food pantries.
• Set a public hearing for 6 p.m. Jan. 7 on zoning text amendments and rezoning of property to highway corridor on Niles Cortland Road SE.
• Set a year-end meeting for 8 a.m. Dec. 30 and first meeting of 2025 at 6 p.m. Jan. 8.
