Vienna looks to Warren Township for its deputy fiscal officer
VIENNA — The township will have a new fiscal officer, but only for 60 days.
Trustees appointed Jason Miner as the township’s deputy fiscal officer at a special meeting Friday morning.
Miner, who is coming over from Warren Township, boasts nine months of experience as an assistant fiscal officer. He originally joined Warren Township in February, but wasn’t formally hired as an assistant and administrative assistant part-time until May 1.
Trustee Phil Pegg explained that he started talking to different townships asking if their fiscal officers would come to the township for 60 days, recalling that they had to start over in their search for a full-time fiscal officer because departing fiscal officer Corrine Hardman hadn’t formally left yet and they had to restart their search anyway.
“What my plan is, name a deputy fiscal officer, which we’re allowed to do short-term, and at our meeting on the 3rd (Tuesday), the idea is to announce it (the opening) again,” Pegg said.
He said he plans to set Dec. 16 or 17 as the deadline for applicants. If they receive no resumes from residents, he plans to send their search over to Trumbull County Probate Court Judge James Fredericka.
