Trumbull County

WHAT: Trumbull MetroParks meeting Nov. 14.

PRESENT: Kurt Sauer, Nicolette Darkangelo, John Brown, Randy Fabrizio and Steve Maas.

The board:

• Approved GEO Specialties via Ohio Department of Transportation state contract for geohazard maintenance for phase 1 of the slide repair on the bike trail off Hyde Oakfield Road to be paid from Appalachian Community grant program from Eastgate Council of Governments at $263,663. The project will reinforce a section of the bike trail.

• Approved having Zachary Svette, executive director of the MetroParks, serve as interim secretary for the board retroactive to Oct. 1 with an hourly salary to be determined. Officials said they are waiting to hear from the Trumbull County commissioners at their budget meeting this week on how much funds the MetroParks will receive.

• Heard from representatives of the Trumbull County Soil and Water Conservation District, who discussed riparian zones and invasive plant species. They discussed what would happen to the local riparian zones and what species would benefit if the Leavittsburg dam was removed or not removed.
