WHAT: Board of education meeting Monday.
PRESENT: Julie Altawil, Ken Jones, Wendy Miller, Jeff Pegg and Brianne Perry.
The board:
• Accepted the retirement resignation of Rosalynd Hoso, sixth-grade teacher at Howland Intermediate School, effective June 2025. She has been with the district since 1992.
• Accepted a $16,250 donation from Kurt and Diane Sauer for one-half cost of the feasibility study of the performing arts center. A study is being done to determine if a center can be added to the high school property.
• Accepted $2,400 from the Howland Schools Parent Teacher Organization for core purchases for the school year for H.C Mines Elementary School and $4,000 from the PTO for benches and a picnic table for the playground at Howland Glen School.
• Approved transfer of Michelle Kaszowski from clerk-typist at John F. Kennedy Lower Campus to secretary to H.C. Mines Intermediate principal effective Jan. 1.
• Approved Mason Prosser as varsity swim coach.
• Reported that former band members who graduated from the district will serve as instructional band volunteers for the high school band. They are Richard Baker, Rae Anne Baruffa. Steven Chambers, Nicky Buday, Samuel Darrin and Juan Rodriguez.
