PRAISE IN PINK: Women of Progressive Baptist Church will host Proudly Praising in Pink, a worship service and brunch Saturday at the church, 2258 Colonial Ave. SE in Warren. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink. The guest speaker will be Dr. Kimberly Jackson-Pinn, an osteopathic physician who believes in the body’s ability to heal itself and the connection between the mind, body and spirit. Minister Lavertta Cooks-Shouse is the guest soloist.
The worship service will be in the church sanctuary.
CELEBRATING 99 YEARS: Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 67 McClure St., Struthers, will celebrate its 99th anniversary at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 27. Minister Leroy and Thelma Vaughn, along with Lenora White, will be honored as long-standing members of the church. A celebratory banquet will follow the morning worship service. The service is open to all. However, an RSVP must be made by today by calling the church at 330-755-6756.
GOLD MASS: The Diocese of Youngstown will host the second annual Gold Mass at 4 p.m. Nov. 17 at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown. A reception follows and the deadline to RSVP for the event is Oct. 31. All parish music directors, musicians and anyone involved in liturgical music within the Diocese of Youngstown are invited. KINGS KIDS: Churchill United Methodist Church, 189 Churchill Hubbard Road, Liberty, will host Kings Kids, a program for children, 4:45 to 7 p.m. each Wednesday through April. The first semester is through mid-December and then will return in late January.
64TH ANNIVERSARY: First Missionary Baptist Church of Mesopotamia will celebrate its 64th anniversary at 4 p.m. Oct. 27 with guest pastor Archie McMillan of Because of Him Ministries.
LABYRINTH WALK: The Ursuline Education and Wellness Center in Canfield will host the last guided labyrinth walk of the year at 6:30 a.m. and 2 p.m Sunday. The theme is “Ways to Nourish Hope.” The walks are led by different facilitators who are either an Ursuline Sister or an associate.
PASTOR APPRECIATION: Leavittsburg Church of the Nazarene, 4174 Pendleton Road, will host a pastor appreciation event at 10:45 a.m. Sunday for Pastor Carol Myers and her family.
ALL SOULS DAY: St. John the Baptist Cemetery, 3900 Villa Marie Road, Lowellville, will celebrate the annual All Souls Day Mass at 11 a.m. Nov. 2 in the cemetery chapel.
GUEST SPEAKER: Men and Women United for Life, a pro-life group in the Diocese of Youngstown, will present inspirational speaker Brendan McCauley at 6 p.m. Nov. 3 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel, in Youngstown, He will share the teachings of Pope St. John Paul II’s “Theology of the Body.” The program is free and open to ages 14 and older.
FIRST FRIDAY: The First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown will meet on Nov. 7, with guest speaker Carey Dabney, professor of theology at Walsh University in Canton. Dabney specializes in Catholic Moral Philosophy and American Catholicism. He serves as the Director of Religious Education and Formation for St. Agnes and Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Cleveland and was appointed chair of the board of trustees for St. Mary’s Seminary in the fall of 2022. Dabney served in lay ministry and leadership for nearly a decade in various dioceses and parishes in the United States.
Dabney will present “A Restless Heart: Finding Rest in God’s Church” at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road in Canfield. Lunchwill be served at 11:30 a.m., with the presentation beginning at noon. The cost is $25. Call by Oct. 31 at 330-720-4498. Reservations are limited.
