WHAT: park board meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Jaclyn Gerberry, Harry Salpata and Heidi Barker

The board:

• Heard from park Director Mark Pallante the new splash pad and playground equipment, new ball field turf and other improvements at Waddell Park are scheduled to be completed before winter. Pallante said a 5-foot fence will be installed around the splash pad and playground. He said city water will be used for the splash pad.

• Accepted a donation of construction of two bullpens at Wilder Field from Dragon Baseball Boosters.

• Approved spending $62,700 for storm sewer installation and replacement, $200,000 for bathroom installation and $61,578 for turf installation at Waddell Park. The costs are covered by a grant.

• Approved a contract with Andy’s Lawn Care Inc. Tree and Stump Removal to cut down 13 trees and grind stumps at $9,800. Pallante said the trees are being removed around the baseball fields due to the fields being turfed.

• Approved an agreement with Turbo Putt Disc Golf for a disc golf course at Stevens Park at $13,858.

• Heard from Pallante a new basketball court was put in at Iowa Park.

• Reported new LED lights are being installed at Fiedor Field.

• Reported the indoor soccer season is starting at the Niles Wellness Center.
